Global Surveillance
See my blog, US-China Surveillance.
Web Graph Analysis
Analytical constructs orginally developed for social network theory can be applied to network graphs generated from "crawling" web sites in various political issue spaces. For more information, see the Web Graph Analysis research initiative and my working paper, Web Graph Analysis in Perspective: Description and Evaluation in terms of Krippendorff's Conceptual Framework for Content Analysis.
China Media
I have been interested in the China Internet for more than a decade, and had seven years experience in the industry before coming to Annenberg for the PhD. For more information, see the China media research page.
Electronic Destabilization
I study the role of electronic communication technology in politically destabilizing events as part of this research project, sponsored by the Project for Global Communication Studies. This is a joint research project with colleague Lokman Tsui. For more information, visit the Electronic Destabilization research page.
